Bags without supports

I use a set of leather bags I got at Sturgis in 1999- got a set of the saddle bag support brackets and quickly learned they are only there to keep the bag further out into the wind stream - so I reverted to just tieing the front of the bags to one coil on the shocks and tucking them in front of the rear turn signal lights.

2/3 day trips have proven the bags can hold all of the gear I normally carry.

I can recommend the luggage racks made up by Peter the Blacksmith - got one from him last year - scroll back about 14 months and you will find correspondence from him about them. Peter welded the racks up and then had them chromed the look good and are strong with lost of surface/tie on area to be serious.
